The Travel and Donor Engagement Manager is responsible for delivering on the strategies for NRDC’s donor engagement platforms, including the major donor travel program and Global Leadership Council. This will include project management, budget tracking, administration, and coordination with Special Projects and other teams across the institution. The incumbent will also manage a regular series of virtual events—comprised of conference calls and webinars—and seek other opportunities for meaningful donor engagement.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manage NRDC’s major donor travel program, including (but not limited to) ensuring trips are designed to support fundraising priorities, identifying and selecting trip operators, securing contracts, developing marketing materials, working with Development leadership and major gift officers to ensure this platform helps maximize philanthropic returns, serving as liaison between donor-travelers and trip operators, designing and delivering pre- and post-trip communications that support strategy and deliver a memorable experience for travelers, ensuring effective internal communications about trip opportunities including creating trip briefings, collaborating with Donor Research to generate bios for travelers on each trip opportunity, and ensuring compliance with the established budget.
- Provide exceptional project management for the Global Leadership Council in support of the program lead, the Global Leadership Council Manager, and in collaboration with Special Projects, Program, and other teams across the organization.
- Collaborate with Membership and Online Giving teams to design and deliver a series of virtual events, including conference calls and webinars.
- Identify vendors and, in collaboration with Communications, oversee design and ordering of swag for engagement activities.
- Coordinate closely with Program and Development staff and with others across NRDC to complete projects to strategy and schedule.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Skills/Experience:
- At least 4 years of professional work experience in project management, travel, volunteer management, and/or events in a non-profit Development department.
- Superior project management skills, including ability to independently manage the timeline and production of multiple activities and supporting communications, often working with numerous partners to achieve a high-caliber final product.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write in a range of voices and styles for varied projects with diverse audiences.
- Collegial team player able to work well with diverse internal and external constituencies.
- Flexible, responsive, and able to balance a variety of activities while meeting deadlines.
- Able to quickly synthesize complex information. Familiarity with environmental issues, conservation, or related sciences preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, and experience working with budgets and financial reports.
- Able to work effectively and maintain composure under pressure. Good sense of humor helpful!

- Fluent in Microsoft Office, with high level of skill in MSWord including editing and formatting. Donor database experience preferred.
