We are looking for a standards editor to help improve the quality and flow of copy in one of America’s most innovative (and fun) investigative newsrooms. Our stories are often complex and hard-nosed, so you’ll need to ask tough questions and be the last line of defense.
- Has razor-sharp news judgment and an unshakeable sense of fairness
- Knows how to bulletproof and polish hard-hitting investigations and longform narratives
- Is meticulous in examining copy and matching facts in text with those presented in graphics, video and on social media platforms
- Can make sure all copy is consistent and typo-free
- Is open to working with various publishing tools, including a CMS
- Really likes working with others and is good at it
If all of this sound exciting to you, apply at https://propublica.forms.fm/standards-editor
We know there are great candidates who may not fit into what we’ve described above, or who have important skills we haven’t thought of. If that’s you, don’t hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself.
We are dedicated to improving our newsroom, in part by better reflecting the people we cover. We are committed to diversity and building an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds and ages. And we are taking steps to meet that commitment. We especially encourage members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply, including women, people of color, LGBTQ people and people with disabilities.
The job is full-time and includes benefits. We are based in New York, and prefer that you be based in our office in Manhattan.
