Senior Project Manager

NRDC is seeking a Senior Project Manager to work with the Finance team in our New York office.  Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Project Manager will partner with functional teams across NRDC on strategic initiatives within finance and operations to execute cross-functional, broad impact change that will drive scale, consistency, and enhanced risk management in support of our mission and organization-wide strategic priorities.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced project management professional who would excel in a multi-faceted role that combines project management experience, process understanding, and system implementation know-how to frame and develop creative solutions to complex issues. The role will require strategic and consultative thinking, and strong problem solving, relationship management, communication, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate would be a leader who enjoys shifting challenges and ambiguous environments, thinks creatively, possesses the confidence to have an opinion, takes initiative, and works collaboratively with a wide set of stakeholders to deliver results.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive large-scale strategic projects to completion
  • Clarify project objectives, drive consensus and communicate plans and results to stakeholders and management
  • Maintain a NRDC organizational perspective and deliver solutions that are beneficial for both individual functions and NRDC as a whole
  • Identify areas for improvement in business processes and technology tools
  • Engage and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the organization
  • Simplify complex topics and create innovative solutions for issues
Skills/Experience: 
  • 10+ years of work experience, including large-scale project management experience and a proven track record in leading change management initiatives involving business process analysis, design and implementation, preferably in financial analysis and reporting space
  • Ability to clearly communicate objectives and articulate the rationale behind change management goals
  • Results driven leader with strong problem-solving and analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with ability to show initiative and come up with ideas without prompting
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
  • Technical aptitude, understanding technology in a business context
