The Senior Project Manager, IT is responsible for supporting the delivery of major technology development initiatives using SDLC (Waterfall) and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

This is highly impactful work of enterprise scope that includes project planning, scope management, risk management, change management, budget and resource planning, cost estimation, tracking and issue resolution.  Throughout the life cycle of these projects, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for making appropriate tradeoffs with project teams to proactively mitigate any issues or risks.

The Senior Project Manager will be involved in multiple, concurrent IT projects of varying durations and will report to the Senior Portfolio Manager.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage and deliver multiple complex IT projects, with the majority of projects using Agile/Scrum and certain projects using SDLC (Waterfall)
  • Rigorously deliver projects through well-organized, proactive management of scope, issues, risks, schedule, communication, resources, and budgets
  • Develop and maintain cost-conscious project plans that meet organizational objectives and timelines for both technology solutions and business process improvement
  • Identify key project stakeholders both internally and externally, including vendors, and managing those relationships in support of a comprehensive approach to each project
  • Manage organizational resources efficiently – time, people and budget
  • Follow processes and methodology set forth by the Project Management Office
  • Manage and communicate the status of active and pending projects to all stakeholders on a regular basis, including business stakeholders, technology enterprise architecture and development teams
  • Foster a culture of excellence through focus on business/customer outcomes, and efficient, measurable delivery of services and objectives
  • Successfully manage the delivery of projects including end-to-end management, from needs analysis and requirements gathering through development and user acceptance testing and training
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • 10+ years of IT experience
  • 5+ years of demonstrated project management delivery across different types of high-risk, high-value, complex IT projects with strong knowledge and experience in both Agile/Scrum and SDLC (Waterfall)
  • 4+ years demonstrated strong knowledge as a Scrum Master in Agile/Scrum development
  • Proven technical project management skills with demonstrated, applied experience establishing and delivering complex technical projects
  • Strong experience with resource estimation, budgeting and project planning

  • Excellent task management, organization and team collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and grow, act as an agent of organized change, adapt to rapidly changing business conditions and needs

Work Demands

  • Willing to work occasional weekend or evening work hours
  • Work is performed out of the New York, NY office

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Computer science/engineering, information systems management, or an MBA is a plus
  • Agile / Scrum Certification (CSM) or equivalent is required
  • PMP (PMI) certification is highly desired
