The Program Coordinator, Plants for Birds will play a role in the Bird-Friendly Communities and Network teams, contributing to our vision of a future for thriving communities, healthy ecosystems, and abundant bird populations. The Program Coordinator will work closely with, and report to, the Director of Community Conservation to support the development and implementation of Audubon’s Plants for Birds program. S/He will support the program by contributing to key elements of Plants for Birds, including helping to manage the data that support Audubon’s first of its kind native plants database, as well as soliciting, collecting, synthesizing and incorporating feedback to ensure continual improvement of digital tools and resources that support the program.
- Support the development of Plants for Birds, a signature national Bird-Friendly Communities initiative that engages a continually expanding Audubon network in local conservation, community action, and love and enjoyment of birds
- Assist the Director of Community Conservation to synthesize and incorporate feedback on Plants for Birds from the network to continually improve the digital tools and resources that support the program
- Support the team’s work of ensuring information contained in the Plants for Birds database is accurate and consistently up to date.
- Support the Director of Community Conservation’s development of training resources that will support implementation of Plants for Birds across the Audubon network
- Experience with research, scientific methodology, data collection, and organizing data.
- Must be passionate about conservation, improving urban/suburban natural areas, and native ecosystems/birds.
- Have research, high-level writing, and documentation skills.
- Must have meticulous work habits and attention to detail.
- Possess strong organizational skills, detail oriented, self-motivated and task-focused on primary deliverables as well as ability to multitask.
- Have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to problem solve to obtain results and outcomes efficiently.
- Be self-motivated, able to follow directions and work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook required.
- Knowledge of native plants and/or plant/bird interactions a plus.
