Network Design Fellow

The network design fellow will be an integral part of Audubon’s art team. S/he will create design solutions for a wide variety of channels for Audubon’s network of centers, sanctuaries, and state offices. These include marketing and communications materials, reports, brochures, invitations, posters, digital ads, and other print and web collateral, all under the supervision of the art director. The fellowship is approximately 35 hours per week in Audubon's New York City headquarters and spans a period of up to six months.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Use Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and pre-press techniques to design and produce layouts
  • Use a strong knowledge of typography and layout design to perform detail-oriented and creative work with an ability to work innovatively within a format
  • Manage Audubon’s brand guidelines throughout the network, answer questions about our brand, and create and edit items like brochures, handouts, reports, etc, to add to our ever-evolving set of templates
  • Bring creativity and fresh thinking to the design of marketing and corporate communications, brochures, postcards, posters, banners, digital ads, social media designs, board reports, invitations, Powerpoint decks, signage, etc
  • Conceptualize and collaborate with art team to create innovative visual solutions
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field, plus internship or one-year experience in a competitive, deadline-driven, and professional design environment
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in designing print communications and creating and maintaining branding systems
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and CMS knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of graphic design best practices, typography, and knowledge of printing and digital design processes
  • A high level of design sophistication, a keen eye for photography, and strong typography skills are essential
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail as well as the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to distill information into visual formats, including through infographics and visualizations a plus
  • Must take critique with ease and be open to adjustments in designs
