NRDC is looking for a committed individual with interest in visual work and strong attention to detail to work with our multimedia team. The Communications Assistant reports to the Multimedia Director and supports the multimedia staff by performing a variety of administrative tasks, including submitting invoices, scheduling, tracking budgets, and managing contracts, with opportunities for production work as needed, such as booking travel, sourcing swag vendors, and putting together call sheets. The multimedia department includes photography, video, and graphic design, supporting all sections of the organization by producing compelling visual content daily to advance NRDC’s mission to safeguard the Earth, its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends.
- Process and track invoices and contracts from numerous freelancers and vendors
- Manage and submit expense reports for the Multimedia Director
- Track budgets for the multimedia department
- Manage the Multimedia Director’s calendar
- Schedule team meetings
- Serve as the multimedia team’s representative to coordinate event and facility needs
- Organize swag closets
- Order swag or printed materials as needed
- Book travel for shoots as needed
- Perform other creative and administrative tasks as needed
- 1–2 years of experience, including internships, in creative or production arenas
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly proactive, organized, efficient, detail-oriented, able to follow detailed instructions
- Proven ability to multitask successfully and meet deadlines
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel)
- Familiarity with content- and expense-management systems (e.g. iMeet and Concur) a plus
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing environment
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Passionate about the environment and public health. Experience with environment- and/or public health-related content a plus
