The Information Technology Director is primarily responsible for sourcing and advocating for advanced cutting-edge technology solutions for the Organization as well as providing training and assistance on technology platforms to end-users.  They research, implement and encourage broad adoption of in-depth IT usage throughout the Organization.  The IT Director will have a visionary perspective on how effective organizations are using the Cloud with decentralized workspaces via multiple portable devices.  They will be the primary liaison to an outsourced IT strategy and operations group who serve in a complementary capacity on overall strategy/security and a backup role on user support.  This position operates under the supervision of the organization’s Chief Financial Officer.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Recommends and advocates for collaboration platforms, messaging/communication tools, and project management applications across the Organization. Researches and recommends new technology and moves the Organization forward in implementing advanced tech services.
  • Collaborates and guides as the primary point of contact with an outsourced IT service bureau who provide a range of services from high-level strategy and long-term planning all the way down through to backing up on end-user helpdesk support.
  • Help develop and maintain the IT security and threat awareness posture and coordinate with our international affiliates to keep an updated secure stance globally as we interface with their systems. This includes forward planning, oversight and administration of daily security, and threat response.
  • Evaluates existing and prospective hardware, software, and service platforms and recommends actions or process changes to improve efficiency/effectiveness and depth of adoption. Leads in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future computer hardware, software, and SaaS portal needs.
  • A key player in the strategic importance of the Organization’s overall direction and mission who will collaborate with management, IT vendors and international groups to implement ongoing improvements in technology processes and procedures across multiple U.S. locations and with international affiliates.
  • Proactively reaches out to employee-users with group or individual instruction and proposes solutions before they experience problems using computer software, hardware, or operating systems. Seeks to deepen the engagement between users and the systems they have available to them.  Is the advocate for advanced technology in the workplace.
  • Provides or facilitates direct instruction and tutoring to end-users on maximizing the value of their IT assets. This includes troubleshooting and configuration of office technology hardware, software or services including notebooks, VoIP, mobile phones, and other hand-held devices.
  • May assist with or be a resource to other IT projects including software customization, database maintenance and analysis, intranet and external website configuration, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and policies.
  • Presents a positive and supportive image of the IT work group to others.
  • Exercises judgment to choose work method/procedure and to schedule tasks appropriately to meet deadlines.
  • Participates in shared responsibility and collaboration with volunteers, internal and external constituents.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS in Information Technology or equivalent field
Skills/Experience: 
  • Approximately 10 years of IT experience in a fast-paced and cutting-edge organization
  • Foundation knowledge of relevant software, hardware and installation processes – specifically MS Exchange, MS Office365, WiFi networking, fiber bandwidth circuits and both Mac and PC fluency
  • Familiarity with software service platforms such as #Slack, DropBox, Signal, 2FA, VoIP systems, SAP Concur, WordPress, GoogleApps, etc. is an asset.
