Reporting to the Art Director, the Graphic Designer will create design solutions for projects across Audubon’s vast network of state offices, centers, and sanctuaries. S/he will use a discerning eye and a detail-oriented approach to design beautiful layouts for brochures, booklets, reports, signage, invitations, and posters, as well as web and social graphics and visualizations. The Graphic Designer will also help educate and support the Audubon network in adopting the organization’s newly refreshed brand guidelines, ensuring all materials reflect the Audubon brand. We are a small team doing big things and we’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Use Adobe Creative Suite to design and produce elegant and refined layouts and communications, including brochures, posters, manuals, reports, etc. for Audubon’s state offices, centers, and sanctuaries.
  • Work collaboratively with teams throughout the Audubon network in executing projects and campaigns.
  • Employ a strong knowledge of typography, grid systems, layout design, and color theory, as well as an eye for photography.
  • Be a brand ambassador to the Audubon network, supporting and addressing questions about the brand.
  • Conceptualize with art and photography directors.
  • Bring creativity and fresh thinking to the design of print and online publications.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field along with 1-2 years’ experience in a competitive, deadline-driven, and professional design environment is essential.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in print design and corporate communications.
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Strong understanding of typography, color theory, hierarchy, and balance in a layout, and knowledge of printing and digital design processes are required.
  • Experience with brand development and strategy.
  • A definitive creative vision, a high level of design sophistication, a keen eye for photography, and strong typography skills are essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects simultaneously are essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to take design critique with ease and to take that feedback and incorporate it effectively into the design.
  • Experience with infographic design, conceptualizing data a plus.
