The National Community Alliances team is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, self-starter with experience juggling multiple assignments, an interest in educational equity, and a passion for Teach For America’s mission, to serve as Associate. In this role, you will primarily provide support to our AAPI, Black, Latinx, LGBTQ and Native Community Alliances, as part of the larger National Community Alliances team. 

You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and team setting. You possess good judgment, are a master of time management and consistently look for ways to do things more efficiently and effectively. Finally, you have a sense of humor combined with a spirit of flexibility and a sense of possibility. Below is a clearer picture of the responsibilities for this role:  

Areas of Responsibility: 

National Community Alliances Support (estimated 50%)

  • Administratively support the National Community Alliances team
  • Organize National Community Alliances team meeting and retreat logistics including booking appropriate venues and catering. Organizing hotel booking for team members
  • Proactively gather relevant details to see projects and events through to completion
  • Identify, recommend and implement improvements to the way the team manages administrative functions
  • Identify, recommend and implement new ideas to improve the team planning and execution for event related matter

Administrative Support (estimated 30%)
Provide administrative support to members of the National Community Alliances team including: Senior Managing  Directors (SMD, Asian-American Pacific Islander Community Alliances; SMD, Black Community Alliances; SMD, Latinx Community Alliances; SMD, Native Alliances; SMD, LGBTQ+ Community Initiative) 

  • Process AMEX and reimbursement reports
  • Process partner and vendor check requests
  • Maintain teamwide calendars
  • Arrange and book travel as needed

National Community Alliances Event Support (estimated 20%)

  • Assist National Community Alliances team with in-house events and partner activations
  • Oversee tasks connected to overall project timelines, contribute ideas for planning creative and overall partner/constituent experience
  • Assist with managing onsite production of events as necessary
  • Process reimbursements, honorariums and other payments
Educational Background: 
Associate or Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Ability to juggle several projects at once
  • Ability to operate in a highly professional manner with an emphasis on confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to effectively organize, plan and execute projects
  • Ability to work efficiently and with accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Google Docs; Canva a plus

Prior Experience

  • 2-3 years’ work experience or significant internship or leadership experience
  • Previous Teach For America staff experience or experience at a mission-driven education organization preferred

Work Demands

  • Occasional evening and weekend work required
  • Some travel required
