The Creative team in the Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking an Associate to support the branding, graphic design, and photography efforts of the department. This full-time position is based in New York and reports to the Director, Donor Engagement, also based in New York.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Track and respond to creative requests from global Development and Outreach staff in a timely manner, primarily through an electronic ticketing system;
  • Track project management of creative deliverables and monitor deadlines;
  • Liaise with merchandise vendors, place orders for branded merchandise, and ensure prompt shipments to relevant staff;
  • Coordinate process for providing photos and photo captions for creative materials;
  • Assist with the production of Voices for Justice annual dinner collateral and the organization’s Annual Report, including developing and maintaining of project timelines, listing supporters and staff accurately, and ensuring smooth distribution;
  • Process payments and manage Creative Services billing accounts; 
  • Provide administrative support to the team; and
  • Perform other tasks as may be required by supervisor.
Educational Background: 
A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, or a related field is required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required.
  • Prior office/administration experience and strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail are required. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences are required.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Dreamweaver is preferred. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure while juggling multiple tasks simultaneously is required. 
  • Ability to make sound decisions consistent with functions is required.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to prioritize with minimal supervision and work independently as well as function as a member of a team with staff in multiple locations globally are required.
  • Proficiency in computer packages including MS Office applications is required.
  • Strong interest in design trends, marketing, and/or photography is a plus.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary range starts at $46,279. Human Rights Watch offers comprehensive employer-paid benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, an outstanding retirement savings plan and twenty (20) days of vacation per year.
