We are looking for a talented user experience professional to design great applications that help fuel the movement to eliminate educational inequity. As the User Experience Designer on Teach for America’s Information Technology team, you will work collaboratively to understand users, and create easy-to-learn, easy-to-use applications. You will also be responsible for prototyping and articulating functionality to business analysis, partners and implementation teams. This position reports to the User Experience Lead.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Clearly articulate visions and conceptualize high quality, cross-platform solutions (desktop, tablet and mobile).
- Create sketches, wireframes, prototypes, flows and other design artifacts as necessary to communicate design concepts.
- Translate complex requirements into easy-to-understand interfaces.
- Create and enact research plans for both new and existing products, working directly with both business stakeholders and product users.
- Perform usability tests.
- Collaborate and effectively communicate findings across diverse teams.
- Be a leader in user-centered design processes.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree required. Degree in human-computer interaction, design, cognitive science, psychology, architecture, or other related field is a plus.
Skills/Experience:
Prior Experience
- 2 years of experience designing products, apps or websites.
- Experience with Sketch, Zeplin and Balsamiq (alternatively, experience with Axure RP, Omnigraffle, Adobe XD or other similar wireframe and design tools, with a desire to learn Sketch).
- Familiarity with methodologies such as - but not limited to - usability testing, contextual research, conducting interviews, card sorting, survey design, customer experience journeys, as well as visual design best practices.
- A passion for small-team UX work and being a part of all parts of the process from research through implementation.
- Experience with Agile software development and related tools.
Work Demands
- This position is located on site in our national office in New York, NY.
- Occasional travel may be required (1-4 times per year)
