Our research teams produce powerful storytelling and rigorous legal analysis to advance and defend Human Rights. At a time when facts seem to be up for grabs, and expertise is often disdained, it is more important than ever that the victims of hostile policies are heard, and that passionate advocacy for human rights values has a platform.
- Ensuring that Human Rights Watch experts are consistently present on national news platforms - television, radio, digital and print - discussing both domestic and foreign policy priorities. You will pitch producers and editors, develop relationships, and be an internal champion for this work. Because of our existing strengths in mainstream national print, your focus is expected to be on broadcast and digital.
- Executing a regional media strategy to support our advocacy at state level. You will identify key markets, and map targets, including regional newspapers, radio, and network television affiliates. You will also work with our digital team on locally targeted social media campaigns.
- Maintaining our database of US media contacts, and tracking sentiment on human rights issues in the US media.
- Developing strategies to ensure that stories with human rights perspective on US domestic and foreign policy are heard in formats other than traditional hard news, including morning shows, day time, and talk.
