The Manager, General Accounting will be responsible for assisting General Accounting team with monthly and fiscal year-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and analytics.  You will be responsible for serving as a back-up for many of the General Accounting tasks, and will also assist in ensuring that financial controls are in place, compliance with policies, and strategic initiatives of the team are executed successfully.

The Manager of General Accounting must be able to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment with an excellent attention to detail. The position requires the ability to prioritize work, demonstrate strong accountability, good judgment, and meet established deadlines.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assist General Accounting team with monthly and yearly close process related balance sheet and income statement accounts. 75%
    • Processing journal entries related to balance sheet and income statement accounts by the monthly and yearly close dates.  
    • Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts in a timely basis.   
    • Set expectations on various balance sheet and income statement accounts along with analytical review.   
    • Assist Controller with preparation of the audit tasks and responsibilities as well as the Form 990 information 
    • Provide the General Accounting team support related to back-up support for other team members responsibilities and tasks while they are out of office, etc. 
  • Assist Controller with system upgrades and stabilization of financial system.  5%
  • Assisting General Accounting team with internal and external reporting requirements. 5%
  • Assist Directors of General Accounting with strategic initiatives and business as usual requests of general accounting team 10%
  • Special projects as necessary 5%
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant field required
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 3 years of prior accounting and relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP Accounting specifically related to not-for-profits highly preferred

Work Demands

  • Overtime may be required at times during high volume, month-end, or year-end/audit season.   
  • Limited travel maybe required.
