The Senior Systems Engineer (New York, NY) will be the technical lead for our various IT services that we manage in our Datacenters, National office and Teach For America’s Regional offices all over continental United States. Infrastructure services includes server, SAN storage, Redhat Linux, Cisco network (voice and data), EMC backup, VMWare, IT Security, Disaster Recovery, and datacenter. The candidate will manage a team of Linux/Network Administrators and offshore NOC. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who have hands-on experience
Areas of Responsibility:
- Provide technical leadership for various infrastructure technologies
- Manage team of network, Unix engineers, day to day operations, and strategic project implementation
- Manage 24x7 proactive monitoring, notifications, and escalations support for all infrastructure technologies
- Build, maintain, and provide support all infrastructure services ensuring high levels of availability and customer service
- Plan and perform technology life cycle thru implementation, refresh, patch management, upgrades, administration and management of all infrastructure technologies under Network, server, storage, backup, virtualization, Cloud as services, and IT security
- Manage team of Linux/Network Administrators and offshore NOC
- Follow and manage defined ITSM processes and workflow defined for incident, change, and problem management
- Continuous improvement in service availability, reliability, and quality thru standardization, simplification, and integration
- Learn and contribute in piloting, designing, and implementation of Cloud services for Infrastructure and network technologies
- Work with various IT sub-teams such as Java development, DevOps, Cloud/Windows services, and Database engineering
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree preferred from an accredited university/college BS degree in Computer Science or related field and about 10+ years of operational experience
Skills/Experience:
Prior Experience
- 10+ years of overall IT experience with 5-8 years of IT operations management experience
- Prior hands on experience managing technologies such as RedHat, SAN, Backup, Cisco network technologies for routing/switching, IT security, and data center

- Operational experience as a RedHat Linux, blade server, VMware, EMC storage, EMC backup, and Cisco network technologies
- Strong communication skills are required alongside demonstrated ability to partner with internal team members as well as with our vendors.

Work Demands
