The Outreach Assistant is a critical participant in the success of the Student Series Campaign. Outreach Assistants are tasked with making outbound phone calls and sending e-mail communication to targeted contacts for Pennies for Patients. The Outreach Assistant is confident, focused and driven to create a qualified pipeline of decision making contacts, keeping warm leads and helping to grow the interest and commitment of LLS’ mission and programs for campaign leadership.
The Campaign: Student Series is a series of science-based philanthropy programs that connect schools with local cancer patients and pioneering cancer researchers, allowing students to see the impact they are making in others’ lives through giving back by funding science, research, patient aid and advocacy.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is looking for energetic, focused and confident team members who would like to join our non-profit team as an Outreach Assistant.At The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), employees take our mission seriously. Whether you work in fundraising development in one of our chapters, are an accountant at the national office or a specialist in our Information Resource Center, you work each day on making our mission a reality: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.As an Outreach Assistant you would be responsible for contacting and recruiting schools within the chapter market to partner them with our Student Series school fundraising program. Successful Outreach Assistants have sales experience, are excellent communicators and listen well to help coordinators build programs that fit their schools needs and encourage volunteers to join us in the fight against blood cancers. These are part time positions (four hour shifts, available in both morning and afternoon), which start in (Chapter Specific August and may run through early spring.) Unpaid days off correlate with school breaks.
- Proficiently make outbound phone and acknowledgement calls to prospective and existing contacts and/or leads in order to create interest in and commitment to participation in campaign.
- Must be confident and focused with the ability to be a self-starter as well as work in a team atmosphere.
- Maintain established outbound call volume to source, establish relationships and generate qualified new lead generation for the campaign leadership.
- Provide timely follow up through proactive phone and/or e-mail communications keeping interested leads warm and engaged.
- Maintain assigned program records and files.
- Prepare assigned campaign correspondence and reports.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS mission and programs to promote the field and campaign fundraising initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
- 1+ year’s telemarketer, sales or customer service experience
- Commitment to achieving phone calls/per day schedule and email follow up
- Prior non-profit experience a plus
- Prior fundraising experience a plus

- Ability to professionally represent LLS and its mission
- Confidently speak with educators and volunteers regarding key messages and values of the campaign
- Excellent communication skills and phone etiquette
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and team player
- Ability to collect and organize data effectively
- Strong organizational skills
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite and databases
