The Nature Conservancy’s GLOBE (Growing Leaders on Behalf of the Environment) summer internship program hires undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent college graduates (2016, 2017, and 2018) to fill paid internship positions during a 10-week summer internship. Our mission is to provide a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academics and the real-world conservation work that contributes to the health and sustainability of our world. The GLOBE Program recruits individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences who are interested in contributing to our conservation goals in various fields. The GLOBE Program offers a structured orientation, professional training, network opportunities, mentoring program, and real work experience. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

The NY Marketing manages 6+ external content channels, reaching more than 330,000 people. Sourcing and creating content that is interesting, informative, and helps them develop a stronger connection to our work and mission requires a lot of brainpower. An extra hand in this work is an enormous help for our small team.

The Marketing & Communications GLOBE intern will assist with research and content creation for web, social media and, in some cases, assist in the development of marketing materials and collateral. The intern will work on a variety of writing/editing, content creation, social media and research assignments in addition to providing administrative support. There may also be opportunities for the intern to assist with events such as volunteer days, tabling outreach and career fairs in New York City. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Responsible for researching and content creation for web and social media content 
  • Work on a variety of writing and editing of content
  • Assisting with administrative support
Educational Background: 
HS Diploma or equivalent.  Enrolled in an undergraduate program, graduate program, or a recent graduate (2016, 2017, or 2018) of Business, Communication, English, Conservation, Environmental Studies, Marketing or related field, or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with written and oral communication
  • Experience researching, writing, and editing
  • Willingness to work with minors and ability to meet internal Youth Safety qualification standards.  To be Youth Qualified, one must 1) consent to and successfully complete a background screening; 2) sign the Commitment to Youth Safety; and, 3) complete two online courses (approximately 30 minutes each) through Learn@TNC

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of The Nature Conservancy’s LEAF Internship Program
  • Experience to self-start, take imitative, and confidence to ask questions and seek input
  • Strong organizational skills
Compensation/Benefits: 
  • $12.50/per hour (undergrads) and $14.50/per hour (graduate and recently graduated level students)
Additional Information: 

This is a full-time, temporary internship position with a 10-week term of June 4 – August 10, 2018. 

INTERN SELECTION PROCESS

  • Applications will be screened for eligibility, qualifications and experience level related to the project;

  • 2-3 telephone interviews will be conducted for selected applicants;
  • Additional information may be required before making a final decision;
