The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is one of the nation’s most effective environmental action organizations. We use law, science, and the support of some 2.4 million members and activists to protect human health and the environment which supports it, as well as the planet’s wildlife and wild places. Founded in 1970, NRDC staff helped write some of America’s bedrock environmental laws. Today, our staff of nearly 600 passionate environmental advocates – including lawyers, scientists, economists, policy and communications experts, the development team and others – work to protect and create environmental progress at home and abroad from offices in New York; Washington, DC; Chicago; Los Angeles; San Francisco; Bozeman, Montana; and Beijing.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assist in the preparation, analysis and monitoring of short and long-term forecasts for operating and capital statements
  • Responsible for consolidation and upload of budget data
  • Maintain budget and reforecast information in the budget and accounting systems (Adaptive Insights & Great Plains). Run a reconciliation process to the account and transaction level to uncover financial and/or system discrepancies
  • Manages monthly budget adjustment and target increase process and drive process improvement initiatives that impact this function.
  • Manage and maintain Adaptive Insights (financial planning software) models and model assumptions to ensure integrity of data and reports.
  • Formulate and provide solutions and work arounds for system restrictions and organizational issues
  • Create and maintain budget to actual summaries and project detailed reports in Adaptive
  • Responsible for monthly headcount reconciliation and reporting by using multiple data sources
  • Work closely with the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis on various projects.
  • Consolidate data and collect insight from Program Finance Managers to assist Programs and Department Leaders
  • Support the strategic planning process for the entire organization
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3-5 years of financial analysis experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to problem solve; organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial staff.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Great Plains and Adaptive Insights is preferred to have
