Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) is based in New York and is the largest section of the parent organization with nearly 200,000 members, including over 1,000 student and local groups. It raised $38M in 2015 and employs about 100 staff concentrated primarily in New York and Washington, DC with other staff around the country, including an in-house canvass currently based in five US cities.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assist Events Manager in creating process & systems for smooth event execution
  • Assists in maintaining, timelines and tracking AGM expenses
  • Work to ensure the Events team is well-organized and consistently meets deadlines while maximizing available resources.
  • Streamlines communication through logistical and administrative support.
  • Communicates event goals clearly to stake holders, and provides reports on progress.
  • Assists on the day of events, including problem-solving, directing event set-up, communicating with staff, and organizing vendors.
  • Builds and maintains a working relationship with vendors and venues.
  • Anticipates and plans for different scenarios.
  • Working with relevant staff and volunteer leaders, helps to ensure that the AGM continues to reflect AIUSA’s brand, policies, and priorities.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two years of event planning experience
  • Knowledge and experience of administrative tasks
  • Substantial leadership skills
  • Knowledge of Eventbrite platform from organizer perspective
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to present ideas fully and concisely
  • An ability to report on goals and progress to colleagues, volunteers, and staff alike
