Reporting to the Vice President of Development, s/he will be a key part of institutional fundraising in Audubon’s National Development office. This is an opportunity for a highly motivated development professional to develop a corporate fundraising strategy for a highly respected, century old organization working across the United States as well as Latin America and the Caribbean.

The position will be based out of Audubon’s Headquarters in New York City, with possible travel approximately 25% of the time.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage a portfolio of corporate supporters and prospects, primarily capable of making $100K+ investments in Audubon, and shepherd them through the moves management process.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to more than double Audubon’s corporate support in a three-year period.
  • Focus on new business development to identify top prospects for comprehensive corporate partnerships spanning the local/state and national levels.
  • In partnership with the Marketing team, identify opportunities for philanthropic and cause marketing relationships; develop and implement strategies to bring these new relationships to life.
  • With colleagues in Audubon offices across the country, create a menu of corporate sponsorship opportunities that provide companies a way to achieve their CSR goals while satisfying Audubon’s conversation priorities.  
  • Work with development and marketing colleagues to develop strong donor materials—including concepts, proposals, reports, pitch decks, etc.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of Audubon’s strategic plan and conservation priorities at local, regional, national, and international levels.
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least five years of progressive corporate fundraising experience with a strong understanding of corporate philanthropy and how it intersects with business goals.
  • Proven track record of building donor relationships and securing corporate gifts at the $100K+ level; experience with $1M+ partnerships is desirable.
  • Outgoing and dynamic communicator with excellent listening, speaking, and writing skills.
  • Team player with a natural ability to develop strong relationships, with donors and peers alike.
  • Ability to quickly synthesize complex ideas and align them with funder priorities.
  • Highly motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic—with a willingness to push supporters to think big.
  • Willingness to travel and work some evenings when needed.
  • Experience and knowledge of the environmental landscape is a plus, but not required – however interest in conservation and the mission of the National Audubon Society is a must.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of Salesforce is a plus.
