Worldfund is looking for an experienced Chief Operating Officer or COO to oversee our organization’s ongoing operations and procedures. The COO will be the company's second-in-command and responsible for the efficiency of the operations in the three counties where we are present.

The COO is a key member of the senior management team, reporting to the Executive Director (ED). In this role, you maintain control of diverse business operations, so we expect you to be an experienced and efficient leader. If you also have excellent people skills, business acumen and exemplary work ethics, we would like to meet you. The goal is to secure the functionality of business to drive extensive and sustainable growth.

The COO will support the work of the company's Executive Director and the Board and be a key player in  driving the execution of Worldfund's five year growth strategy and ensuring interim steps stay on track.  The COO will also focus on the establishment and optimization of day-to-day operations in the company. The following internal department heads will report to the COO:

  •      CFO
  •      M&E
  •      Government Affairs
  •      IT
  •      HR
Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensure proper execution of business strategies and procedures pertaining to Worldfund's five year strategic plan, in particular regarding budgets and timelines
  • Ensure quality control of all program delivery and commitments
  • Ensure activities comply with organizational requirements for quality management, legal stipulations, and general duty of care.
  • Enforce the Employee Manual and the Policy and Procedure Manuals that promote company culture and vision
  • Oversee daily operations of the company and the work of executives (Finance, M&E, Government Affairs, IT, HR, etc.)
  • Advise the ED and management team on key planning issues, all matters of importance and make recommendations on important business decisions
  • Supervise resource allocation
  • Establish operational processes/ process improvement
  • Ensure all department heads are fully informed of operational objectives
  • Set operational and / or performance goals for each department which are aggressive, achievable and tied to long-term goals and monitor performance reporting systems
  • Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Monitor department performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made
  • Conduct regular meetings with department heads to ensure priorities are clear and coordination is good
  • Lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication
  • Take charge in high-priority crises and facilitate resolution of issues
Skills/Experience: 
  • Proven experience as COO or relevant role
  • Understanding of organizational functions such as HR, Finance, etc.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Working knowledge of IT / Business infrastructure
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus
  • Experience in fundraising will be a plus
  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese is a plus
