Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) is based in New York and is the largest section of the parent organization with nearly 200,000 members, including over 1,000 student and local groups. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and maintain the operations a large, cost-effective, sustainable street canvass operation across multiple locations within the United States. 
  • Ensure that all appropriate permits, registration, insurance and relevant documentation is in place and up to date to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal legislation.
  • Working in liaison with Human Resources to develop pay procedures and benefit plans to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations within the canvassing program.
  • Understand departmental strategy and collaboration with the NCD to identify priority projects and activities. 
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to increase efficiencies through technology, automation or process change.
  • Ensure effective learning, by working with key stakeholders establishing test plans, and confirming that results are tracked and documented appropriately.
  • Work with the Regional Managers and Canvass Directors to help them develop and manage their regional budgets.
  • Consolidate and manage regional budgets into a national view.
  • Manage weekly result reporting through national budget process.
  • Manage and evaluate recruitment of all new canvassers. Ensure that all key performance indicators are being met on a daily and weekly level. 
  • Work with the data team to develop reports that drive improvements in the FL ROI.
  • Liaison with HR on legal issues to enforce performance and behavioral standards in offices.
  • Work with Membership drive and other vendors to ensure that all member data and donor gifts are processed in a timely manner, that donor complaints are dealt with and that an appropriate communication strategy is established and followed for the donors.
  • Work with member services to monitor comments and feedback and develop data-driven reporting that will maximize the program’s effectiveness.
  • Work closely with the monthly giving staff to build a solid monthly giving program from acquisition through retention based on a strategy to maximize the long-term net income for the organization.
Skills/Experience: 

Skills: 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to identify, recruit, train, motivate and retain staff; short-term and long-term strategic planning skills; ability to analyze data, make recommendations and turn those recommendations into on the ground action; and proficiency in Excel.

Experience/Accomplishments:

  • Experience using appropriate data analysis to inform decision making
  • Proven ability to train and manage staff both locally and remotely
  • Experience making changes to a program using data analysis and testing
  • 5-7 years of experience in regional management or operations management in a membership driven department, preferably a canvass operation
  • Experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Experience turning long term strategies into objectives, projects and deliverables
  • Ability to balance priorities across multiple projects
