The International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) is looking for a motivated and dedicated person who is looking for a career in helping to build and further develop an International Non-Government Organization (INGO) of excellence and world impact for the discipline of Interior Architecture/Design. The position of IFI Membership Coordinator is responsible for carrying out all aspects of membership development, and day-to-day administrative responsibilities of IFI. This includes supporting the IFI President and Executive Board. An exciting part of this opportunity exists in building a strategic alliance with other international organizations such as the United Nations.

The successful candidate will be exceedingly well-organized, detail-oriented and have excellent people skills. He / she must enjoy team work, have a good sense of humour and be willing to participate in all aspects of IFI and project development. They must enjoy global design affairs; have an interest in design policy/advocacy for the built environment and meeting people from across the world. Since its relocation to NYC, IFI operates on a small staff, so this opportunity is especially suited for a hands-on self-starter who enjoys developing initiatives and wishes to engage with an organization with exceptional growth and expansion possibilities. We are looking to fill this position as quickly as possible, with an immediate start date upon hire.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Works with executive leadership to plan, execute and direct all initiatives and outreach, administer annual and biennial programs and activities to support efforts internationally
  • Implements policy procedures and documents for the review and approval by the Executive Board related to IFI’s operations
  • Strengthens company brand and enhances global brand awareness
  • Oversees all aspects of Membership coordination, administration and development, including implementing strategies to retain and expand members
  • Helps to solicit sponsorships, advertisement opportunities and foundational support
  • Provides a high-level of customer service including building strong relationships with members, non-members, donors and others. Responds to inquiries and requests
  • Develops and executes all IFI communications and e-newsletters
  • Maintains and updates the IFI Website and Social Media sites
  • Implements and manages appropriate procedures for recordkeeping and documentation
  • Coordinates the IFI President & IFI Executive Board’s schedule, logistics and activities (as needed)
  • Develops and manages specific projects on an as-needed basis
Educational Background: 
Minimum of Bachelor's degree or higher in: design, business, international relations, journalism, publishing, humanities, or any of the creative industries.
Skills/Experience: 

Professional Background (essential unless otherwise noted)

  • Administrative experience (within professional associations/ non-governmental and/or international organisations is a strong advantage)
  • Previous experience coordinating high-profile programs and events
  • Experience in member recruitment, sponsorships and donors (desired)
  • Experience with cross-cultural staff and/or volunteer teams and/or boards (desired)
  • Experience within the design, creative or INGO sectors (desired)
  • Exceptional people and communication skill
  • Ability for self-direction and work advancement if, and when, needed

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent English (additional bilingualism would be beneficial but is not a requirement)
  • Strong writing and editing skills are a must
  • A high-level of computer and Internet literacy, including experience with InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Computer-savvy, knowledge of appropriate digital and database programs as well as more common management, media and presentation software
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, high level of initiative to manage and complete projects in a fast-paced work environment
  • Independent self-starter with the ability to work with limited supervision and successfully within a team
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals
  • Experience with cross-cultural staff and/or volunteers teams and/or boards
  • Have the availability to travel internationally for Board Meetings and other assignments related to members and sponsors
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.

Additional Information: 

This is not a typical 9 to 5 job because of the global activities and membership in different time zones. The ideal candidate should have a flexible schedule to accommodate these non-traditional schedules when necessary.
