Teaching is a profound act of leadership. As Director, Teacher Leadership Development (DTLD) you are responsible for activating the leadership, strategic thinking and the influence of a team of Managers, Teacher Leadership Development (MTLDs) to cohorts of coach first and second year corps members to realize educational equity and excellence in Greater New Orleans (GNO). To do this, the DTLD must set a strong vision and direction with their MTLDs for corps member excellence in schools and must operationalize that vision through exceptional management of team execution, strong data analysis and solutions development, and exceptional judgment. The DTLD is a people and systems manager, makes data-informed decisions and deeply believes in the potential of individuals to meet ambitious outcomes.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Deep commitment to Teach For America’s mission and core values
  • Remarkable orientation towards collaboration and team building
  • Prior experience: Minimum of 5+ years’ work experience, with a strong instructional background and at least 2 years of successful management experience. Teach For America experience preferred.
  • Exceptionally skilled at developing and cultivating deep relationships and networks (across different points of view and lines of difference) in order to achieve results
  • Skill in inspiring and motivating a team to perform against measureable goals
  • Ability to manage others to effectively track tasks, assess progress, and follow through on the execution of plans
  • Ability to provide others with effective professional development, coaching, and mentoring
