The Youth Wellness and Sports Director is responsible for the operation and programs of the Youth Wellness and Sports Department at our Y-Zone of the New Castle Community YMCA and will be responsible for general operations on evenings and weekends. The Y-Zone is located at 428 Eleanor Drive, New Castle, PA 16105
Areas of Responsibility:
- Successfully lead the growth and expansion the operations of the Youth Sports & Wellness programs at the Y-Zone
- Assist Branch Executive Director and Y-Zone Committee in the creation and continued development of the Y-Zone Youth Wellness Activities
- Work with Branch Executive Director in the scheduling and promotion of Y-Zone youth programs
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Y-Zone youth programming staff and volunteers
- Successfully implement membership development into all Y-Zone youth programs and activities
- Grow youth sports and wellness programs at the Y-Zone
- Meet and exceed budget responsibilities for the Y-Zone Youth Wellness Department
- Responsible for achieving targeted goals in Annual Campaign
- Create successful special events within the department and assist in the organization and implementation of other special events for the Association
- Interpret and communicate the Association’s strategic objectives to the community through public communication, the media, and participation in community organizations
- Ensure quality and safety in all equipment used in youth activities at the Y-Zone
- Serve as an ambassador between the New Castle Community YMCA, local schools, and parents
- Share in the responsibility for the successful execution of strategic objectives with other professional staff, participating in special projects.
- Be pro-active in securing grants for Y-Zone youth activities
- Ensure quality of Y-Zone summer camp and staff
- Be the liaison between Branch Executive Director and evening member service staff
- Responsible for maintenance of fields-personally or by leading volunteers
- In conjunction with Branch Executive, will ensure smooth operations specifically on evenings and weekends.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree in sport management, exercise science or related field,
Skills/Experience:
- excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills including the ability and experience to interact with children and adults
- demonstrate a working knowledge of sports and wellness concepts
- computer skills including Microsoft Office software and email
- supervisory experience is a plus.
- Candidates must pass child abuse and criminal background clearances
- current First Aid & CPR certifications within 60 days of employment
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $33,000.00 - $34,000.00
