The New Castle Community YMCA is currently hiring for a Sports and Recreation Director
The Sports and Recreation Director is responsible for developing, organizing, delivering and administering sports leagues, recreation programs and activities targeted toward youth and adults at all New Castle Community YMCA locations-Downtown, Y-Zone, and Dek Hockey Rink.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manage, direct and coordinate all youth and adult sports programs and leagues for the Association.Ensure high-quality programs and establish new program activities. Expand program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Ensure participation, retention, and enrollment growth.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community groups, sports clubs and association, local school administrations, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
- Develop new strategies to expand current revenue streams and maximize capacity in the way of new, innovative, collaborative programming and league development for the Association.
- Recruit, hire, supervise and develop Youth and Family Director and assist in department when needed.
- Plan, organize, schedule, and direct all games, facilities, officials, and scorekeepers for YMCA sports and league activities.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field
Skills/Experience:
- Maintain required certifications as required for the position
- YMCA Team Leader certification preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience in coordinating sports and/or leagues
- Multi-Lingual preferred but not required
- Strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to manage sports recreation program activities at multiple sites
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build community relationships
- Ability to interact with children and public and manage programs to a diverse population
- Previous experience working with children and teens
- Knowledge of rules in sports recreation program activities
- Creative thinker with a history of applying innovation in programming
- Current Child Abuse and Criminal background clearances
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00
