The New Bedford YMCA is seeking an experienced applicant who will provide supervision and leadership to the program department. Responsibilities include teaching and leading a wide array of YMCA programs for preschoolers, youth and teens and families. The incumbent will also be responsible for budget development and implementation, retention, local Branch marketing, external outreach, relationship building, creating systems for quality assurance, and staff development. This position is a key member of the leadership team and has an emphasis on youth and family programming. Focus is placed on the YMCA core vales of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, as well as philosophies regarding building a healthy spirit, mind, and body.
- Teach classes in a variety of games, sports and enrichment areas to all ages such as the following: physical education, basketball, t-ball, volleyball, lacrosse, football, arts & crafts, and much more.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, evaluate and supervise program staff and volunteers.
- Monitor progress towards branch’s goals by running and reviewing all necessary reports.
- Manages budgets related to the position. Ensures programs operate within budget and that program fees are collected.
- Community outreach for the purpose of developing prospects, including attending local fairs and events.
- Must be highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Schedule athletic fields and facilities. Transport and set up equipment for games and practices; monitor and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits. Develop and distribute team practice and game schedules; train and schedule sports officials; develop and distribute sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information; organize and schedule program registrations.
- Serve as the Branch liaison to the Association’s Youth & Family Engagement Quality Team; attend and participate in all association meetings as assigned.
- Assist in fundraising efforts and annual campaigns, with a focus on program participants as Donors.
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- Three to five years of experience in youth and family programming in a recreational or YMCA setting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Personal commitment to service and hospitality.
- Must maintain valid driver's license and CPR/First Aid certification.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literate.
- A commitment to participate as part of an active team to ensure the success of the branch.
Salary: $32,000.00 - $35,000.00
