The assistant school age child care director is responsible for management of an after school program located at the YMCA and is licensed for 130 children. In addition, the assistant director helps supervises school vacation week programs and a summer camp program at the YMCA for 140-150 children. The program is also planning an expansion to include 1 or 2 off-site licensed programs with a licensed capacity of 26 children each.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensures that YMCA program standards are met.
  • Ensures all Child Abuse Prevention policies and procedures are met.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
  • Coordinates transportation in cooperation with local schools, bussing company and internal bus driver(s).
  • Maintains proper records/department files.
  • Organizes and assists with special events.
  • Attendance and participation in committee and team meetings.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, or its equivalent in academic preparation/experience to meet Massachusetts State certification requirements. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 – including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work. 
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $28,000.00 - $33,000.00
