Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Responsible for the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.  Ensures pool operates under all guidelines identified in the Aquatic Safety Plan as set forth by the Osage Prairie YMCA board of directors in accordance with the YMCA of the USA best practices.
  • Recruits, hires and trains diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
  • Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistic to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; securing and scheduling the pool facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, practices and meets.
  • Contributes as a team member of the Osage Prairie YMCA Leadership Staff.  Supports other leadership staff in needed areas of management and programming to ensure the success of the overall YMCA including involvement in the YMCA Annual Campaign.
  • Maintain a non-traditional work schedule to meet the expectations of the essential functions listed above.  In order to be successful in all areas, some evenings and weekends will be required.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  • One to two years related experience preferred (e.g., as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor).
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Completion of all YMCA aquatics training and trainer certifications within 60 days of hire.  Including but not limited to YMCA Lifeguard and Lifeguard Instructor, YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor and Instructor Trainer.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $33,000.00
