The YMCA of Middle TN is searching for a cause-driven leader to serve as Worker's Compensation and Risk Administrator in Nashville, TN!

Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the VP of Legal & Risk Management, the Workers Compensation & Risk Administrator is responsible for providing leadership to the Association and Centers in the areas of workers’ compensation and program volunteer compliance. This position will also support the Association’s transportation function by performing YMCA driver credentialing. In all duties and responsibilities, the Workers Compensation & Risk Administrator will ensure accuracy and completeness.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Support the Association’s strategic plan and ensure the accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives
  • Provide exemplary customer/member service and maintain confidentiality regarding employee and volunteer information in compliance with Association standards, policies and procedures
  • Lead the Association’s efforts in the area of workers’ compensation; oversee workers’ compensation claims monitoring and administration, communicating with employees, insurance carriers and medical personnel, reporting (including OSHA), processing and maintaining worker’s compensation databases and files, etc.
  • Compile and present workers’ compensation data to OST/leadership staff
  • Coordinate training for staff on workers’ compensation processes; identify areas for improvement and track workers’ compensation related data, organize file reviews
  • Support the Association Safety Director in the YMCA’s Transportation function, screen driver documents; ensure all forms are complete and required documentation is provided; run/process MVRs; create and maintain driver files and any other required records accurately and in compliance with approved guidelines and standards of the Association; continuously monitor driver spreadsheet, ensure it is current and notify Centers of approaching expirations, notify Safety Director of noncompliance; intake driver hotline calls
  • Serve as Association point of contact for program volunteer compliance, review and update Association-wide volunteer policies on a yearly basis (Code of Conduct, etc.) utilizing Know Your Score best practices, screen volunteer packets; ensure all forms are complete and required documentation is provided; conduct background checks on volunteer applicants; create and maintain volunteer files, databases and any other required records accurately and in compliance with approved guidelines and standards of the Association
  • Compile and present volunteer data to OST/leadership staff
  • Complete research and special projects as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent highly preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
  • An enthusiastic personality with the desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants and staff to create a culture of service within our Centers
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions, solve problems and make good decisions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Excellent organization skills; the ability to work with a positive attitude as part of a fast-paced team and to balance multiple project simultaneously while maintaining a high attention to detail is essential.
  • Superior work ethic, willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends during certain months
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing workers’ compensation claims and data for a large, complex organization
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, corporate policy compliance, and presentations
  • Multilingual preferred
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $49,880.00 - $62,350.00
