The Senior Director of State Networks and Communication is responsible for supporting the services to YMCAs in Tennessee through the areas that support the service delivery model of YUSA and Communication Management.  This position will report to the Executive Director of the Tennessee State Alliance of YMCAs. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support the YMCA mission and models the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Model and put into practice behavior that supports inclusion and diversity.
  • Support the service delivery model of Y-USA, specifically the role of the State Alliance within such model.

Build Strong Networks:  Provide opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and support

  • Manage ongoing volunteer engagement and relationship-building among TN YMCAs through in-person events and networks.
  • Work closely with TPY and the Y Professional Network chapter leadership to strengthen network and utilize peer communities and neighborhoods if applicable.
  • Work with the State Alliance to help create and achieve the goals outlined in the strategic plan approved by the Alliance.
  • Effectively communicate to internal and external audience and ensure that the mission, vision, value and goals outlined by the Alliance are aligned with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Support statewide program initiatives (youth in government, afterschool programs, YCAP, etc)

Alliance Communications: Manage proactive communications with internal and external audiences.

  • Jointly, with the Executive Director, conducts official correspondence of the Executive Committee and the Alliance.
  • Create and delivers plan for sharing statewide community benefit of all Y Associations in the Alliance; implementing targeted communications to advance advocacy and proactive communications of Alliance activities and events.
  • Develop and implement an internal and external communications plan that includes managing the Alliance website, newsletter, social media and other applicable communications tools and channels.
  • Manage Alliance marketing and public relations under the direction of the Executive Director and in partnership with Alliance communications committee (if applicable).
  • Help support monitoring and authoring legislation that may have adverse and/or positive effects and communicate issues effectively to Ys.

Miscellaneous

  • Seek legal counsel where applicable.
  • Consistently communicate with and visits member Ys and neighborhood events.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
  • Must enjoy a collaborative work environment with the desire to serve and motivate volunteers
  • Must present a professional image, be well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated and proactive
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Appropriately and professionally work closely with the Tennessee Alliance of YMCAs
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including travel time (approximately 25%), as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in YMCA public policy/public administration and government relations
  • Multilingual is a plus
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $70,000.00 - $74,000.00
