Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Vice President of Property, the Property Director is responsible for the maintenance and security of the buildings, vehicles, pool and grounds at the Center.  This individual shall supervise the building services staff.  As a result, the equipment, facility and grounds will be exceptionally clean, safe, attractive and functional.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Ensure safe and risk free environment at all times while meeting the individual needs of the participants
  • Monitor building for safety concerns, security and guest concerns
  • Ensure safety in all areas of Center by ensuring all equipment and items used are maintained and repaired in a timely manner
  • Accountable for all major building and facility repairs
  • Accountable for all pool maintenance and repairs
  • Supervise all grounds-keeping for the center
  • Responsible for program equipment maintenance and repairs; responsible for vehicle and agricultural equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Responsible for the financial operation of accounts under his/her responsibility; administer according to the approved budget, exercising necessary controls to stay within both income and expense budgets on a monthly basis
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the Maintenance and Grounds staff, coordinating staff team distribution in the most efficient and productive manner on a daily basis
  • Maintain a standard inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Maintain Facility Dude (Work Order Software)
  • Build relationships and interact with members
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions
Educational Background: 
High school diploma or equivalent required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
  • Superior supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, members and participants to create a culture of service within our Centers
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations and ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends required
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Experience in electrical, HVAC required; three years experience in YMCA facility maintenance preferred

Required Certifications

  • Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
  • Within two weeks of hire: Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen
  • Within six months of hire: Certified Pool Operator’s certification
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $37,716.00 - $47,145.00
