Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, the Director of Program Development will be responsible for researching, developing, monitoring, assessing, and managing the effective implementation of programs at the YMCA. This position is supervised by the Director of Sponsored Programs and works to ensure that all YMCA programs use evidence based/best practices, has trained staff for effective programming, demonstrate impact/outcomes, work with partners to maximize resources and enhance programming, meet all requirements of external funders, and operate in a manner that is consistent with the YMCA’s Strategic Plan.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Models the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Assists Operations Department in consistent program design and delivery with measurable impact including:
  • Compiles, analyzes, and reports on trends in programs, identifying issues and developing/recommending solutions to Senior Leadership and the Division of Sponsored Programs
  • Works with staff to develop systems to ensure high-quality program implementation and performance management
  • Aligns technical support to programs based on organizational priorities
  • Facilitates program logic modeling and program planning/strategic thinking
  • Adapts, designs, and re-designs programs based on research and demonstrated effectiveness of programs
  • Ensures best practices for programs including inputs, outputs, outcomes, measurement/evaluation tools
  • Identifies and helps develop and maintain partnerships for effective/quality programs
  • Provides feedback to staff supervisors on program staff performance
  • Helps develop and deliver content for training staff and supervisors
  • Provides leadership during times of organizational growth
  • Facilitates program continuity during staff changes/transitions
  • Assists Division of Sponsored Programs in proposal and report development including:
  • Supports the development of grant applications and reports in collaboration with the Division of Sponsored Programs
  • Monitors grant-funded programs
  • Helps program staff meet requirements of programs’ grants calendar and timelines for proposal and report submission
  • Assesses program staff skills and develops skills workshops to ensure staff have the skills needed for proposed projects/programs
  • Ensures that all grant applications contain appropriate outcomes/outputs and data collection processes verified by program staff and the Program Data Manager
  • Communicates program data/data collection support needs to the Program Data Manager
  • Works with the Grants Accounts Manager to verify and help staff monitor grant/program budgets
  • Assesses resource needs of programs as they relate to funding opportunities
  • Assists in responses to audits or inquiries regarding any grant, contract, or other sponsored program
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills and the ability to relate to diverse groups of people from all social/economic backgrounds
  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, critical thinking, problem-solving and demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, versatility, and independent thinking
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Minimum 18 years of age
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $49,880.00 - $62,350.00
