The YMCA of Middle Tennessee is searching for a cause-driven leader to serve as Soccer Director in beautiful Nashville, Tennessee!


Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the VP of Programs, the Association Soccer Director’s main role will be developing, organizing and successfully administering all youth soccer programs. This position is responsible for overseeing the development and promotion of quality soccer programs and providing supervision and guidance to program staff to ensure all specific duties are carried out.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Models the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Ensures safe and risk free environments at all times while meeting the individual needs of the participants
  • Oversees Association Spring/Summer/Fall Soccer Programing which currently operates through 9 program sites, serving 7,400 participants annually
  • Develop and maintain a soccer work plan with VP of Programs and center and update as needed
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct staff and volunteers as needed
  • Expands Soccer Program into new area program sites
  • Acts as the primary contact with all program site representatives – secures sites and contracts
  • Responsible for site preparation – landscaping, field maintenance, field lining, equipment, safety measures, cleanliness
  • Recruits, develops, and trains soccer coaches(including utilization of PlayerSpace) with assistance of sports coordinators
  • Collects all volunteer applications from coaches and - sports coordinators
  • Develops “Playbook” for coaches – includes Philosophy, Drills/Practice Planning, League Management
  • Oversees pre-season coaches meetings & clinics
  • Assigns all contract officials to program sites
  • Oversees soccer budget ($750K)
  • Develops, monitors and effectively forecasts program budgets to meet fiscal objectives
  • Implementation of Soccer Rules of Play (evaluation of rules)
  • Supervises roster builds, game scheduling, communication plans through PlayerSpace
  • Collaborate with Association Marketing department to create and implement local marketing and public relations campaigns to build participation. Handles all purchasing and inventory of uniforms, medals and equipment
  • Handles all member concerns (phone/email) as directed by the administrator
  • Supervises -sports coordinators to ensure each program site meets association standards
  • Inspects all program sites – ensure program standards are met and safety procedures are followed
  • Evaluates survey feedback to make the necessary changes and create objectives with each program site
  • Schedules team pictures for each program site

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum two or more years of work experience in sports recreation required
  • Experience in running soccer programs or a soccer background is also preferred
