This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Member Engagement and Wellness, the Wellness Coordinator will help provide inspiration to our members and help us improve the health of our community in both our Nashua and Westwood Park locations. A strong focus is placed on driving a superior member experience, enhancing the membership connection and engagement, thereby leading to increased member satisfaction and retention. Evening and weekend hours are required.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Creates a safe environment in which all individuals feel welcomed and respected; build relationships with and among members and program participants.
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal
  • Facilitation skills to deliver and create program content.
  • Computer skills, ability to perform data entry, and utilize Daxko or receive training within 60 days.
  • A professional personal image and the ability to work harmoniously with staff, members and volunteers.
  • Monitor personal training sales and redemption for accuracy. Work with members to appropriately assign trainers based on needs and preferences.
  • Assist the Director in leading wellness staff members in all member connection and retention initiatives related to the wellness center Personal Training and wellness programming.
  • Hire, onboard and supervise Wellness Floor staff and Personal Trainers.
  • Provide direct service as needed for personal training, group training, group exercise, and wellness floor coverage; directly providing a model for the staff team in how to provide the highest quality service and exceptional member experience for all.
  • Maintain working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • Create member communities by designing and implementing quarterly incentive challenges. Reward and celebrate members for their success.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS in exercise science or related field; or equivalent experience preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Current Red Cross First Aid and Adult CPR/AED certification
  • Must hold and maintain group fitness instruction certification and or personal training certification from a national recognized source (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) and/or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
