Consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Soccer Director supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. In conjunction with Beach United FC, this position oversees the development and operations of high quality soccer programs and designs practices, processes, and procedures for a strong program.
Areas of Responsibility:
YMCA SPECIFIC:
- Directs and provides hands-on leadership for soccer programs and activities to meet YMCA objectives. Expands soccer program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Assists with the production of two soccer tournaments.
- Ensures a high level of customer service for all program participants.
- Prepare and manage the program budget to ensure revenue and program service goals are achieved, including successful solicitation and retention of sponsorships.
- Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices. Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of equipment.
- Monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
- Recruits volunteer coaches and ensures compliance with SCYSA (South Carolina Youth Soccer Association) and USYS (US Youth Soccer). In conjunction with Beach United FC, coordinates meetings and training for coaches and soccer clinics.
- Creates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations. Organizes and conducts parent orientation meetings.
- Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules; coordinates officials; develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.
- Ensures that uniforms are YMCA brand compliant, ordered in a timely manner. Distributes team uniforms and awards; coordinates and distributes team photographs.
- Organizes and hosts season parties and events, promoting healthy eating and good nutrition.
- Collaborates with Marketing to promote of programs, organize and schedule program registrations. Review and processes program scholarship applications.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with Beach United FC, the City of Myrtle Beach, Horry County Government, First United Methodist Church, and other community organizations.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Assists with Program Committee meetings.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
- in program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
BEACH UNITES FC SPECIFIC:
- Assist with the design of Club Curriculum and ensure compliance with YMCA Program.
- Monitor the progress/development of players and coaches.
- Expands club soccer participation in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- 250 players in 2018-19
- 270 players in 2019-20
- Organizes parent education events (twice per season)
- Improve club marketing through designing flyers, banners, signs, newspaper articles, billboards, word of mouth, etc.
- Coach 1-2 teams per season.
- Assists with facilitating club tryouts.
- Assist in field preparation (lining fields, net placement, filling holes etc.)
- Performs other duties as assigned for the betterment of the club.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Soccer enthusiast, loves and honors the game; coaching and/or playing experience preferred
- YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
- 3 years of related experience preferred.
- Minimum age of 21.
- Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Compensation/Benefits:
