The Operations, Finance & Philanthropy Manager oversees the operations requirements in a small business unit. S/he will be responsible for oversight of the day to day operations including the finance, human resources, facilities, information systems, philanthropy program support, office management and/or safety.
The Operations, Finance, & Philanthropy Program Manager will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the program by developing and implementing tactics for approved plans, and completing and/or overseeing day-to-day tasks. S/he is responsible for the development and implementation of philanthropy research and program tracking, annual budgets, monitoring progress towards budget and philanthropy goals and identifying trends, and working with staff to develop project and program budgets for Chapter programs and individual projects.
S/he will also provide assistance to all levels of staff on human resources administrative issues, working closely with the Division Human Resources Business Partner. This position provides guidance in satisfying requirements based on extensive knowledge of policies and procedures. S/he will interpret guidelines and analyze factual information to achieve results, improve workflow, and solve problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Act independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems.
- Ensure programmatic commitments, Conservancy policies and procedures, GAAP, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.
- Provide timely and accurate philanthropy and financial reports and analysis to board members, Chapter and Philanthropy directors, and project managers.
- Develop and monitor budget, forecast, sustainability, and strategic financial plans.
- Perform general accounting duties to include: basic journal entries for transfers, loans, land transactions, accruals, deferred revenue and expense corrections.
- Review and monitor income statement and balance sheet (including pledges) items at month and year-end close.
- Provide financial advice on land deals or other special projects.
- Ensure revenue, expenses and net assets are managed to reflect donor intent, including working with cross-functional teams to perform revenue allocation.
- Manage privately funded awards and collaborate with Grants Specialists to manage public awards;
- Oversee financial activities such as purchasing, processing invoices, negotiating, and contracting with vendors.
- Oversee philanthropy program operations activities for the chapter, including research and prospecting and donor pipeline development.
- Maintain confidentiality of frequently sensitive and emotionally-charged information.
- May participate in complex negotiations.
- May supervise administrative, professional or volunteer staff.
- Performs human resources administrative activities and duties, including managing professional development of staff.
- Travel occasionally, working long and flexible hours as needed.
- Work environment involves infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Finance / Accounting experience.
- Experience coordinating projects.
- Experience working with grants.
- Experience generating financial reports and analyzing and interpreting data.
- Experience developing and administering departmental budget or equivalent.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong organizational skills, attentions to detail and ability to manage time and multiple project/priorities.
