The Healthy Living Director is responsible for the development, supervision, and administration of the Health and Well-Being programs. The incumbent will bring the department to the next level by expanding our fitness and wellness programs to meet the needs and demands of our membership and community based out of the Centennial Recreation Center and is operated through a unique partnership between the YMCA and the City of Morgan Hill.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Implement membership strategies that promote recruitment of new members and retention of existing members.  Organize assigned staff to support membership development and retention goals. Identify and resolve problem areas to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of staff functions to determine required core competencies and skills; design and implement trainings as needed.  Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed.  Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff to achieve goals.
  • Responsible for staff training and maintaining staff certification requirements.  Implement a system to keep staff current in required certifications.
  • Regularly evaluate programs by soliciting response from members and staff.
  • Responsible for program enrollment, retention, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Leads assigned aspects of the fund-raising campaign.
  • Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • Education, experience and knowledge in fitness principles and applications as related to exercise physiology, bio-mechanics and exercise prescription required.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a health and wellness environment required and a minimum of one year of experience in fitness facility management, staff supervision and program management.
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication; Bilingual a plus.
  • Ability to build relationships with staff, members, and participants
  • Ability to multi-task, and make sound independent judgments
