YMCA Camp Chandler is seeking a motivated camp professional who will be committed to maintaining the high standard of operations of Camp Chandler’s summer camp program, group camping, outdoor education, and special events.
The Program Director serves an integral role in the successful running of all components of summer camp programs.He/she is responsible for overseeing the over-all daily operation of summer camp including scheduling daily programs and staff, training staff, program accountability, working with user groups, and all other programming to facilitate a successful summer program for campers and groups.He/she will also provide assistance with outdoor education and other camp programs. The Program Director ensures the positive experience of camp to all groups.
- Resides on-site with housing provided as part of compensation package.
- Supervises Summer Camp including budget, camper recruitment and retention, evaluation, daily operation, staffing, and programming
- Responsible for marketing, promotion, and recruitment of Summer Camp and Seasonal campers
- Works with Group Camping to ensure group satisfaction in the areas of programming, facility preparation and cleaning, meal service, and the High and Low Ropes course.
- Leads Staff Training
- Supervises Program Areas
- Organizes and oversees teen programs: Leader in Training (LIT) Program and the S.W.A.T Program.
- Assists Senior Program Director in the year-round supervising of daily operations and camp staff
- Assists with Outdoor Education; serving as an instructor
- Assists in Camp Facility and Grounds; cleanliness, upkeep, and maintenance
- Leads Halloween Carnival
- Directs Father/Child Weekends
- Assists with Annual Campaign and leads Staff Campaign
- Attends YMCA Association and Camp Board Meetings monthly in addition to other Metro functions
- Promote positively activities and programs of Camp Chandler to the General Public.
- Other duties as assigned
- He/she must be able to directly supervise a part-time summer staff of up to fifty people.
- The daily operation of camp requires the following skills: good inter-personal skills, prior camping experience, knowledge of computers, high and low ropes experience, food service experience (ServSafe preferred), and the ability to assist with grounds and maintenance duties.
- The incumbent must have the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social & economic aspects of the community.
- He/she must have a valid driver’s license, be able to drive a van and truck, and be insurable. General aquatic knowledge is required.
Salary: $32,000.00 - $36,000.00
