The Program Director will be in charge of the administration of local programs for teens, including development, implementation, and evaluation, as well as assisting at local, state, and national conferences. Duties will include recruiting and training volunteers and staff, maintaining computerized registration system for programs and conferences, maintaining web pages, supervision of part-time staff, and other duties as assigned. Program Director will have hands-on responsibilities with teen programs and must be able to relate to junior and senior high students positively.
- Direct and supervise program activities to meet the diverse needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives
- Establish new program activities and expand programs in accordance with strategic operating plans
- Adhere to policies and procedures by operating the programs within the guidelines set forth by the CEO
- Model relationship-building skills in all interactions. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community organizations
- Promote and incorporate the YMCA four core values and character development model in all program activities
Essential Functions
- Recruit, train and supervise program volunteers and staff concerning the program philosophies and the mission of the YMCA.
- Develop, organize, promote, monitor and evaluate teen programs under direction
- Develop necessary program materials, reports, evaluations and schedules as directed by supervisor.
- Assist with promotion, mailings, inquiries & publication development.
- Assist with participant registration for Youth in Government conferences, Christian Values Conference, National Affairs Conference & other program events.
- Assist in packing & relocating supplies and equipment during programs and conferences conducted off-site.
- Available to work during specific events and conferences as assigned
- Assist in projects and activities as required by supervisor
Britton YMCA
- Lead local Student YMCA programs at area schools and YMCAs
- Coordinate transportation to volunteer and service events. Participate alongside students. Ensure group safety and learning
- Attend club meetings periodically throughout the school year to present upcoming program information, recruit participants and answer relevant questions
- Attend school and other events to build relationships with participants and parents
- Work with the Interpersonal Relations Youth Leadership group that participates in a Big Buddy / Little Buddy Program
- Assist with the organization and implementation of both the YMCA Man of the Year and The Jimmy Hitchcock Award
- Other duties as assigned
Youth in Government
- Prepare local Student YMCAs and Government Clubs to attend conferences
- Attend weekend training retreats for all Youth in Government conferences. Organize and lead student leadership activities. Prepare or create program materials for retreats
- Assist in preparation of conference materials and logistics as needed.
- Attend all Youth in Government conferences, retreats, and trainings
Christian Values Conference
- Recruit and prepare local delegation to attend conference and raise funds
- Work alongside conference leadership during event and assist conference director with logistics and execution
- Travel to North Carolina YMCA retreat center for weeklong conference
Conference on National Affairs
- Attend weekend training retreat for Alabama participants. Prepare students and coordinate charter bus travel for group of 25.
- Compile and prepare conference materials for all participants, volunteers, and staff for 700 member conference.

Salary: $32,000.00 - $36,000.00
