The Head Swim Team Coach will guide the YMCA's year round competitive swim program. These duties will include, but are not limited to, the planning and implementing of seasonal, yearly and long term goals that optimize the competitive performance of the Competitive Swim Branch. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for the fiscal management, which includes creating, justifying and keeping a budget. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, fundraising for team and meeting Annual Campaign goals for East Branch.
  • Develop and supervise training plans and schedules for the participants that will optimize the member’s potential
  • Promotion and recruitment for swim team participants
  • Hiring, supervision and education of coaching staff. Work with assistant coaches to develop and administer appropriate training plans
  • Registration for participants
  • Scheduling, planning, hosting and staffing swim meets
  • Responsible for the Masters Swim Program
  • Lead and create lay development, addressing complaints, and resolving problems
  • Maintain regular communication with swim team parent committee
  • Regular social and team building functions are offered to all swimmers and their families
  • End of season banquet is successfully planned and executed
  • Recruiting and training volunteers
  • Work with other YMCA professionals to utilize their facilities
  • Meets the association standard for attendance, punctually and dependability and exercises good judgement
  • Responsible for the YMCA Summer Swim League
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong background in competitive swimming, both as an athlete and as a coach
  • Must have experience coaching swimmers at a national level or higher
  • Must be able to create and manage a budget

Required Certifications

  • Preferred coach’s certifications, including but not limited to, USA Swimming certifications, Principles of YMCA Swim Coaching, member of ASCA
  • First Aid and CPR required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $28,000.00 - $32,000.00
