Under the guidance of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager will collaborate with Program Directors and employees to maximize employee engagement and drive business performance. The Human Resources Manager will lead the Y’s efforts and initiatives that will attract, train, develop and retain talent. They will oversee the internal development, implementation of human resource policies, plans, and services. These include employee recruitment, selection, and on boarding as well as benefits and compensation administration. They will also supervise the execution of payroll, the management, and updating of the Y’s HRIS, and Applicant Tracking systems and databases.
- Serve as a visible point of contact/resource for employees and subject matter expert for activities pertaining to payroll, benefits, HRIS, and HR policies/procedures. Collaborate with all facets of the organization to achieve a precise and consistent policy and procedure protocol.
- Enter newly hired/rehired info in payroll/HR system; screen onboarding documents for accuracy and confirm compliance of legal documents, required training, etc…
- Support open enrollment period, explain changes in benefits as needed, manage staff changes and update as needed.
- Responsible for oversight of association compliance e.g. internal policies enforcement of handbook, salary and wage administration, OHSA reporting and employment law poster updates.
- Communicate in a timely manner to state and other government agencies or civic/municipalities on LOA forms, STD, FLI, notifications to staff as required. Respond to VOE requests, letters of employment.
- Support HR Director at New Hire Orientation meetings for all staff, communicating policies, reinforcing the three pillars of culture, and championing the spirit of the Y.
- Be the driver of staff acknowledgments, hosting recognition of staff at planned annual events, and monthly gatherings celebrating staff. Communicating via internal systems to spotlight these recognitions.
- Communicate to supervisors monthly performance review due dates
- Establish and maintain relationships with career centers at local colleges and universities attend job fairs and serve as point of contact for managing a hiring resource/affiliation. At strategic points in time, host internal job fairs accordingly.
- Manage camp season hiring with assistance of temporary help; coordinating with camp directors on HR established onboarding protocols and camp specific needs. Attend camp directors meetings and trainings before start of camp and post camp.
- Manage the HRIS system and ongoing review of updates and systems upgrades, communicating changes to staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 4 years of management responsibility in HR and direct payroll processing duties, preferably with ADP Workforce
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with staff.
- Ability to work with integrity, discretion and a professional approach. Customer service focused.
- Detailed oriented and ability to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge and experience with a non-profit organization helpful.
- Sound communication and both written and oral.
- Knowledgeable of HIPAA privacy laws and maintains strict confidentiality.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office applications, Outlook, Word and Excel, HRIS/Payroll/Timekeeping system applications.
Salary: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00
