The Geyer Family Center is a branch of the YMCA of Montclair and located in Northern New Jersey, in the heart of downtown Montclair.

This position supports the work of the Y, committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Branch Director, the Aquatics Director will develop and manage the operations of all aquatic related activities and special events that are offered at the Geyer Family YMCA. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Recruits, trains, and develops non-exempt and part time program staff and volunteers.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Organizes and schedules program offerings.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of staff and participation in program.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with other community organizations.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Coordinates use of related facilities for program activities and events.
  • Assists in branch fund raising activities and special events.
  • Responds to all participant and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Assists with Program Committee meetings
  • Demonstrate and model the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • Perform such other job-related duties as may be periodically assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Cooperate; work effectively and congenially with all YMCA staff members, volunteers, and members of the Association.

Educational Background: 
Pre-School teaching education / experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Prior Aquatic management experience (3+ years) in a recreational setting.
  • Current Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, AED; Bloodborne Pathogens certifications required.
  • Certifications requirement within 30 days of hire Include: CPO, Lifeguard Trainer, CPR and AED trainer and YMCA Progressive Swim Program trainer.
  • Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations and child development.
  • Strong fiscal management skills and proven budget management experience.
  • Travel between sites as needed.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00
