Under the direction of the CEO and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, the Program Director is responsible for administrating childcare, sports programs and recreational activities to youth, adults and families at our YMCA and in the community.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Sports programs and activities for members and participants (ex. Soccer, basketball, softball, tennis, gymnastics, martial arts, volleyball, etc.)
- Non-sports activities for members –youth and adult- (ex. Childcare, The arts, drama, Adventure Guides, etc.)
- Non-traditional activities to involve and “connect” members
- Values / Christian emphasis programs
- Develop specific program plans including target dates, attendance goals, implementation plans and marketing needs/plans
- Evaluate programs in a timely fashion using specified rating system.
- Recruit, train, administer staff of program volunteers and/or paid support staff to ensure effective implementation of the mission.
- Serve as staff liaison to related volunteer committees and community groups.
- Share in the evening and weekend building coverage as assigned.

- Organizes and oversees specific program activities.
- Recruits and trains mentors for specific programs.
- Organizes and conducts Teen Court activities and events.
- Organizes and conducts Youth & Government activities and events.
- Recruits and coordinates volunteers from the local legal and government communities.
- Coordinates and monitors Teen and Youth summer camps.
- Organizes and conducts Leaders Club/Leadership High School activities and events.
- Organizes and conducts Y Achievers activities and events.
- Secures facilities for program activities and events.
- Coordinates registration and participation in program related conferences.
- Informal Education
- Creates and schedules informal education classes; including gymnastics, dance, and karate.
- Secures facilities and equipment for classes and events.
- Purchases and maintains supplies for classes including training materials and books as authorized.
- Schedules and monitors class instructors.
Educational Background:
College degree or equivalent social work, human services or related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, lead and supervise staff and volunteers.
- Ability to effectively organize and effectively communicate that organization to others.
- Ability to work effectively with others to prevent and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to effectively planning, implement and evaluate programs and activities.
- Ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $33,000.00 - $40,000.00
