Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Healthy Living, the Fitness Programming Director is responsible for the leadership and advancement of fitness related programs for the Two Rivers YMCA. The Fitness Programming Director will oversee the development and implementation of innovative programs and activities, guide and develop personal trainers, ensures participant development occurs in a safe and healthy environment, and ensure program outcomes are consistently achieved. The Fitness Programming Director will supervise, guide and develop personal trainers.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Required to work hands on shifts in fitness programming including Personal Training, and Wellness Challenges. See Position Expectations for specific requirements.
  • Ensures that the daily care of members is a key priority and creates an environment that encourages relationship development, engagement, and optimal member success.
  • Lead all fitness areas by providing direction, leadership, support, and efficiencies through strategic planning, administrative standardization, quality standards, and risk management.
  • Direct leadership, implementation and development of fitness programming and provide support in managing all personal training employees.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Fitness communication/marketing plan and strategies.
  • Serve as liaison to program staff concerning fitness programming and trainings.
  • Supervise personal training staff. Ensures staff are trained and prepared to achieve the desired program outcomes.
  • Represent and articulate the fitness programming’s purpose and mission.
  • Responsible for strict adherence to and annually reviews all policies and procedures related to safety and conduct rules and other regulations.
  • Requires flexible availability to include early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Accountable to the Senior Director of Healthy Living for execution of policies and procedures.
  • Promotes and incorporates the Y mission, developmental assets and four core values into all programs and events.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands programs in accordance with the YMCA’s strategic vision and community needs.

Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Supervises approximately 15-20 personal training staff, responsible for their overall direction, coordination, and evaluation.
  • Directly supervises employees and volunteers in accordance with the organization’s policies, mission and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, timecard and payroll approvals, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Educational Background: 
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • ​2-3 years experience in in fitness.
  • Supervisor experience is preferred.
  • National Personal Training Certification is required. Additional Group Exercise certification(s) preferred.
  • Must demonstrate personal values consistent with the YMCA Mission.
  • CPR/AED for infant, child and adult.
  • Westbend Bloodborne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention
  • Valid Driver’s License and Car Insurance – if driving on behalf of the Y.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
