Areas of Responsibility: 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Helps prepare, maintain, and manage Sports & Recreation budgets.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and program areas including the Large Gym, Running Track, Small Gym, Sport Courts and Sports Fields throughout the Two Rivers YMCA property.
  • Recruit, hire, train, counsel and develop appropriate staff and volunteers.
  • Interpret and enforce Y policies and procedures to all staff and volunteers in a positive manner. Ensure all complete appropriate trainings and certifications.
  • Promote and incorporate the Y mission, developmental assets and 4 core values in all programs and events.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and supervision of expanded sports programs throughout our service area.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and track the effectiveness of and participation in all programs with outcomes at the end of each session.
  • Respond to all member, participant, and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the staff and operations of Sports & Recreation programs, member recreation and facility schedules to best meet community needs.
  • Establish new program activities and expand programs in accordance with the Y’s strategic plans and community needs.
  • Continually develop all program content, implementing new and improved curriculum as recommended by the YUSA and supervisor.
  • Initiate the marketing and distribution of all program information. Effectively communicate program offerings and updates to other YMCA staff, members, participants and the community.
  • Continue education and professional development as recommended by the YUSA and supervisor.
  • Use Listen First to develop relationships and communicate with members, guests and staff.
  • Report incidents by using proper forms to the Senior Program Director.
  • Secure facilities and rooms for meetings, programs and events in the Y on-line scheduler.
  • Enforce YMCA Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain a professional image of the Y in the facility and the community.
  • Attend training and meetings as determined by your supervisor.
  • Participate in and promote the Y Annual Campaign to staff and the community.

Direct Responsibilities:

Budget: $96,000

Staff: 15+ part time and 25+ seasonal volunteers at one time.

Skills/Experience: 

 

Minimum Criteria for Candidates

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or
  • Four or more years of program experience working in the Sport & Recreation field.
  • YMCA Team Leader Certification preferred.
  • Direct budget responsibility of at least $50k revenue - preferred
  • Must demonstrate personal values consistent with the YMCA Mission.
