The Senior Financial Analyst analyzes the Association financial information for a designated product area.  The incumbent develops, obtains and maintains all information necessary for budget preparation and forecasting.  The incumbent reviews financial statements for accuracy, including specialized accounting work and compilation of financial reports. The incumbent prepares business analysis for the management and/or product team and other to support executive decision making.  The incumbent represents the finance department when working with branch, product and program management.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops budget and forecast information for the designated product area.
  • Provides comprehensive fiscal knowledge, accounting support, financial analysis, and technical assistance to branches, departments and/or program areas.
  • Assists branches, camps or assigned product area in the implementation of financial strategies, programs and projects, including financial performance, interpretation of accounting policies, operating procedures, development of pro-formas for new sites and programs, participate in analysis and market studies of products, develop reports and the administration of various financial procedures and processes.
  • Supports implementation of financial controls which assures compliance with internal policies, external regulations, GAAP and non-profit accounting standards, and the integrity of all financial transactions.
  • Researches and prepares variance analysis for operational units and the entire Association.  Initiates questions for explanations and development of corrective action plans.
  • Researches and models project proformas and operating statements for the organization, which may include long-term financial planning and new, renovated or expanded facilities and/or programs, in collaboration with the Real Estate team and project leaders.
  • May present data/analysis to senior leaders and Finance Committee for strategic decision making purposes.
  • Reviews financial statements for accuracy and initiate any changes or corrections ensuring that all transactions have correctly posted to the general ledger.
  • Applies State and Federal laws and YMCA policy by providing coaching and advice in accounting matters, including the areas of operational improvement.
  • Develops, recommends and may implement accounting policies and procedures which create consistencies and implement best practices for departments.
  • Reconciles and/or review the reconciliation of all income statement accounts and prepare audit schedules for various accounts, as needed.
  • Provides training and coaching to Financial Analysts, Associate Financial Analysts, assigned branches, camps or programs staff on financial processes and procedures (i.e. Personify, GP Dynamics, Forecaster, and FRX).
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and accounting.
  • In-depth understanding of accounting principles, methods and applications, and general knowledge of budget management, development and financial analysis.
  • Proven reasoning, analytical, problem solving and consultative skills with an ability to deliver difficult messages.
  • Ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to make recommendations and decisions.
  • High degree of competence, initiative and the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills along with an attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive working relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated technical skills working with IBM compatible personal computer applications, including at a minimum, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred:

  • CPA Certification and/or MBA degree.
  • Experience working in non-profit accounting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains and Microsoft Forecaster accounting software.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00
