The Digital Campaign Organizer and Conservation Writer is responsible for managing digital platforms for the Our Mississippi Our Future campaign and for creating content for the campaign including website material, social media posts, emails and call-to-action communications. The Digital Campaign Organizer and Conservation Writer will be responsible for writing and editing a variety of additional communications materials for the campaign and the Conservancy’s Minnesota-North Dakota-South Dakota chapter. The Digital Campaign Organizer and Conservation Writer will manage projects as assigned. This is a full-time regular position with salary and full benefits, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Digital Campaign Organizer and Conservation Writer will work closely with colleagues and partners to develop and implement an integrated digital campaign that identifies and engages Our Mississippi Our Future campaign supporters, drives measurable online actions and deepens online and offline engagement. The Digital Campaign Organizer and Conservation Writer will be responsible for creating and executing social media strategy for both the Our Mississippi Our Future campaign and the Conservancy’s Minnesota-North Dakota-South Dakota chapter including writing, planning, organizing, reviewing metrics and optimizing posts.

As assigned, the Digital Campaign Organizer and Conservation Writer will manage a variety of chapter communication materials from start to finish including writing, editing, aggregating and incorporating edits, feedback and photo selection. Written products may include newsletters, magazine inserts, press releases, guest columns, letters to the editor, web content, executive-level speeches, brochures, fact sheets, video scripts and presentations. The Digital Campaign Organizer and Conservation Writer is responsible for updating and maintaining the chapter’s digital photo archive and selecting and providing photos for use in varied marketing and communications work. Reports directly to the Conservancy’s Director of Marketing based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Manages and implements projects.
  • Responsibility and accountability for meeting assigned project goals and objectives.
  • May serve as team lead on assigned communications projects.
  • Does not supervise staff but will coordinate the work of peers.
  • Resolves issues independently within program area.
  • Works independently without requiring detailed management review of general work.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.
  • Experience in digital organizing for a non-profit advocacy organization or an electoral campaign.
  • Professional experience in writing for social media including Facebook. 
  • Experience writing and editing for one or more of the following: newsletters, news stories, features, profiles, magazine articles, guest columns and letters to the editor, web content, brochures, fact sheets, presentations, speeches and scripts for videos.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Experience implementing communication and engagement plans/strategies. 
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices. 
  • Experience leading or managing projects.
  • Experience in video production.
