The incumbent is responsible for managing professional accounting work and leading with budget work.

The Capital Accounting Manager is responsible for managing professional accounting work, administering the fixed asset and related systems and coordinating association-wide project initiatives. The incumbent leads the association’s capital budget development process and ensures the accounting for all capital assets and expenditures, capital debt and lease activity are in accordance with GAAP. The position oversees the capital expenditure functions and may supervise or provide work direction to others. Other responsibilities include reconciling balance sheet accounts and preparing specialized reports.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide comprehensive fiscal knowledge, accounting support, financial reporting, and technical assistance to branches, departments and/or programs.
  • Hire, train and supervise or provide work direction to administrative accounting support team members.
  • Oversee the accounting for capital assets and expenditures, ensuring all activity is in accordance with GAAP and other accounting policies and best practices. Responsible for capital debt and lease accounting which may include preparing bond draws, calculating debt covenant requirements and preparing related reports for financial institutions.
  • Manages vehicle registration and property tax information and payments.
  • Reconciles and reviews the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and prepares audit schedules for various accounts.
  • Analyzes data and prepares special reports. Assist with developing strategies for financing capital projects and monitoring association cash flow.
  • Develop financial policies and procedures, creating consistencies, efficiencies and implementing best practices.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 3 years of related accounting experience.
  • In depth understanding of accounting principles, methods, and applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills along with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient user of the Microsoft Office suite and spreadsheet preparation.

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft “Great Plains” accounting software.
  • Experience with improving and streamlining business practices.
  • Experience working in non-profit accounting.
  • Experience in project management and providing work direction.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00
