The Systems Engineer is responsible in providing necessary technical and analytical expertise and support for all aspects of on premise network, server, storage and telecommunication as well as private, public cloud architectures, and related functions that are utilized by YMCA employees.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible for evaluation, planning, design and implementation of hybrid on premise systems architecture, public, and private cloud solutions.
- Recommend, develop and implement changes that would streamline technology services to YMCA employees.
- Develop, promote, and implement innovative ideas to improve the technology of the YMCA.
- Maintain the VMware vSphere, VMWare View environments and their guest servers and workstations for on premise solutions.
- Administer and support the EMC SANs.
- Administer Microsoft Azure and O365 cloud architectures and services.
- Oversee applications of on premise Windows server systems including Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Skype for Business.
- Manage SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, O365 environments.
- Administer network services such as Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
- Monitor the health and status reporting for server and network systems, storage area networks, UPS, event logs and spam on a daily basis.
- Manage Level 3 problems escalated from service desk staff
- Write documentation for internal service desk use and to assist users in learning to use YMCA’s computer systems
- Provide backup to the Senior Systems Engineer and the Database Administrator
- Participate in BT’s off-hours emergency support rotation
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent technical experience in a related field
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting Windows Microsoft server operating systems
- Minimum of 2-3 years of hands on experience administering and operating Microsoft O365 and Azure environment
- MCSE and A+ certification or equivalent experience
- Experience with VMware vSphere and ESXi hypervisor and Microsoft hypervisor
- Experience with LAN, WAN, and TCP/IP
- Experience with EMC SANs
- Experience with HP servers
- Ability to effectively communicate with users of all skill levels
- Knowledge of best practices within a business environment
- Ability to adapt to new technologies
- Detail oriented while handling multiple projects and deadlines
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $71,000.00 - $83,000.00
